Helpful Tips

Using the Pallete Knife:

Practice using the side of your palette knife on a sheet of paper before going straight to the canvas. It is always good to get a feel for applying paint with a palette knife before working on your project..

Drawing the Trees:

Practice drawing the trees on a piece of paper. Make sure that there is a “slight” narrowing as the trunk goes up. Also, notice that the branches are not coming out at a right angle. Think about an interestate and how the roads veer off gradually. These branches that veer off are narrower than the trunk.

Appreciation: We would like to thank to Simply Charlotte Mason and Tapestry of Grace for the use of their excellent art history resources.
