Helpful Tips

Molding the clay:

If your sculpt clay is really hard, then zap it in the microwave for a couple of seconds. However, don’t overdo this or you could ruin the clay. Keeping the clay in a warm place will make it feel softer as well.

Baking the clay:

The clay should be baked at 275 degrees for about 20 minutes. The Giraffe ought to be hard, but will have small soft spots if you feel it (remember it is hot and can burn when you take it out of the oven). The spots will harden as it cools down. Wait until the sculpture is cool to proceed.

Painting the sculpture:

You can use either a black and white acrylic paint mixed to make a gray or just use a gray acrylic paint or a gray spray primer.
