Notes:

Self Hardening Clay: You will need about 2 lbs per turtle.

Old Brushes: Any old brushes will do. They do need to be stiff.

Tile or plate: You will take a piece of tile (floor tile is a good example) to use as a hard surface to sculpt on. You can cover it with plastic wrap so that your clay does not stick to it.

Damp cloth and plastic bag: Will be used to store the turtle and keep it damp until you are ready for the clay to harden in the last step. The plastic bag should be larger than the sculpture and either twist it shut or use a zip lock bag.

Pointed Tool: You can use any pointed household tool to aid in your sculpting.

Kroma Krackle:  Use only if you want your turtle to look really old and textured.

Important:

At the end of Lesson 3, Sharon recommends that you take some acrylic paint and paint your turtle any colors you want. Lesson 4 focuses on painting and then applying Kroma Krackle – Sharon recommends that you skip that lesson. Since filming this project we have noticed that Kroma Krackle is difficult to use at times and causes frustration as a result. Sharon recommends skipping that step. Paint your turtle, let it dry, and enjoy it for years to come!
